Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, meaning a surgical enlargement of the breast, can increase the size of the natural breast, enhance cleavage, improve the appearance of excess skin, and lift breasts which have sagged due to age, pregnancy, or weight loss.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation, meaning a surgical enlargement of the breast, can increase the size of the natural breast, enhance cleavage, improve the appearance of excess skin, and lift breasts which have sagged due to age, pregnancy, or weight loss.
Breast augmentation surgery is often called an Augmentation Mammaplasty, or, more commonly a “boob job”.
Prospective patients can choose from a variety of options such as placement, shape, incision, and size, in order to achieve their breast implant goals.
Breast augmentation consistently ranks at the top of most frequently performed plastic surgeries in the United states; with more than 290,000 completed in 2016 alone. Breast implant surgery is a breast augmentation procedure which uses a prothesis in order to achieve breast enlargement.

“I have never been happy with my breast size, and after 3 pregnancies and nursing babies they are even less desirable now.”

Candidates for Breast
IMPLANTS

Most breast implant patients have been unhappy with their natural breast size and shape for the majority of their adult lives. Existing issues, such as little natural breast tissue, can be worsened by weight loss, age, pregnancy, and breast feeding.
Patients whose breasts have sagged following pregnancy, breast feeding, or major weight loss, may have also be suffering from skin laxity and may consider having a breast lift to raise the position of the breasts on the chest.
Weight and fluctuation can be especially rough on the delicate skin of the breasts. Opting to combine a breast lift with implants both increases the size of the breasts and rejuvenates their appearance.
In order to be considered for breast implant surgery, patients must be in good health, past the age of development, and wish to permanently change the shape and size of their natural breasts.

Types of Breast
IMPLANTS

The consultation process for breast implant patients involves making a few choices regarding the type of breast implants needed to achieve they look and size they want.

Most implants come in a soft, silicone outer shell, which can come pre-filled or filled once in place, depending on the filler material.

Saline Implants Versus
SILICONE

There are 3 kinds of fillers for breast implants: saline, silicone, and cohesive gel. Each have unique features to meet different patient needs.

Saline Breast Implants:

Filled with a sterile salt water solution, saline breast implants are placed while empty, then filled with saline once in position.
Safe to use on patients as young as 18, saline implants can be placed through a small incision in the navel or through the armpit. Saline breast implants are ideal for patients who suffer from asymmetry since each implant can be filled to different sizes once in place.

Silicone Gel Breast Implants:

Often thought to be the most natural looking breast implants, silicone gel implants come pre-filled from the manufacturer with a jelly-like silicone substance which was created to act and feel like human fat.
Perfect for patients who have little natural breast tissue, silicone implants can be placed through small incisions at the base of the nipple or the infra-mammary fold.
The most popular choice when it comes to breast implants, silicone gel is the best solution for patients seeking natural looking breast implants.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation:

Fat transfer breast augmentation is a procedure not unlike the Brazilian Butt Lift that removes fat from one part of the body with liposuction and then injects it into the breasts to increase their size and perkiness. This method typically causes a less drastic increase in breast size than other implant methods. Fat transfer breast augmentation costs more than implants, averaging over $6,000 in the US.

Breast Implant Surgery

“I have been insecure and self-conscious about my lack of breasts since I was a teenager.”
– Breast Implant Patient

Breast Augmentation surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning patients can go home the same day of their surgery. In addition to selecting the type of breast implant, patients also choose the placement and type of incision.
Some patients also choose to add a breast lift to the procedure. A breast lift and augmentation together can work to simultaneously fill out and perk up the breasts, returning them to a much more shapely, youthful appearance.

Placement of Breast Implants

“Overs or Unders?” – Patients who have frequented plastic surgery forums may come across topics such as “350cc Overs”, which refers to the placement of the implant prosthetic in relation to the pectoral muscles of the chest.
Overs – Subglandular implant placement means the implant is placed over the pectoral muscle, beneath the tissues of the breast. Subglandular placement is available for both saline and silicone breast implants.
Unders – Submuscular placement means the implant is placed under the pectoral muscle. Available for both saline and silicone, this is the most common placement of breast implants.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

“so far the recovery hasn’t been nearly as bad as I had expected it to be.”
3 Days Post-Op, Breast Implant Patient

Surgery can last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, and patients go home the same day to begin recovering. All patients are discharged with post-operative instructions – a plan made by the surgeon in order to make healing as safe and painless as possible.
The effects of anesthesia can be felt for up to 3 days after surgery and most patients are advised to drink plenty of water in order to flush the remaining medication from the body.
It is common for patients to experience swelling, tightness, numbing, and overall discomfort for the first week after surgery.
Asymmetry is also fairly common following a procedure, one breast may appear larger or retain more fluid than the other during recovery.

Around the 5-day mark patients can usually manage pain using over the counter medication, but may continue to experience swelling in the abdomen and breasts.
Many patients experience “boobie blues”; a wide range of emotions following surgery. The emotional roller-coaster is perfectly normal and is usually due to being cooped up in the house during recovery, as well as the discomfort which follows surgery.
As patients begin to heal and feel better, the boobie blues are usually replaced with excitement.

“My boobies have felt like my own since day 1”

Breast Implant Patient

Once the bandages come off, patients usually wear a post-surgical bra, then seamless bras without underwire, for the first weeks following surgery.
Once the surgeon gives patients the green light, it’s time to go bra shopping, which is something the majority of patients look forward to.
Fresh breast implants may feel hard at first, but will continue to soften into a natural jiggle within the 6 weeks after surgery. Breast implants find their final home in the chest cavity as time progresses giving them a more natural look and feel.

Breast displacement exercises help ease pain and swelling, as well as encourage breast implants to find the perfect spot on the chest to settle. Most patients begin breast implant massages around the 10-day mark.

Benefits of Breast Augmentation

Breast implants drastically change the shape, size, and placement of the patient’s breasts. Patients who have felt self-conscious about their natural breasts experience a boost in confidence which typically spills over into other areas of their lives.
Patients express feeling more vibrant, even jubilant after recovery.
In a study of women ages 21-50 on the effect of breast augmentation on self-esteem, women reported improved self-image, increased sexual desire and function, and significant increase on overall self-esteem.
The results of this study are certainly reflected in our own breast implant patients who send us endless post-operative updates and selfies.

How much does breast augmentation cost?

The average cost of breast augmentation varies depending on where you are looking to have the procedure performed. As with all plastic surgery treatments, breast augmentation prices depend on geographic location as well as additional fees associated with the procedure. While breast augmentation surgery cost by state is a moving target, the average cost of the procedure in the US in 2018 was $3,820.
Breast augmentation in Miami, Florida starts at a lower price than the national average, about $3000, though this can vary depending on the type of breast implant used. At Seduction we pride ourselves in offering competitive pricing and several financing options, regardless of credit.

I had a BBL with lipo 360 on July 30 2019 with Dr Dillon. I must say Dr Dillon worked a miracle on my body. I thought I was going to require a lower body lift and tummy tuck in addition to BBL,...
