Dr. Jorge Sosa is a Board Certified general surgeon with great expertise in surgical critical care.
Dr. Sosa graduated at the top of his class from the University of South Florida. During his residency time at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Sosa became a pioneer and an expert in laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Sosa was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at The University of Miami School of Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital from 1993-1995. In 1995 he became a private practitioner in general surgery specializing in the treatment of heartburn. He started in the field of bariatric surgery in March of 2001, when he performed his first gastric bypass surgery. In present days he had performed over 5000 bariatric surgeries. A large part of his practice is dedicated to weight loss surgery and reflux surgery, but he also continues to perform general surgery, treating conditions such as gallbladder, hernias, colon, and diseases of the breast.
Prestigious publications such as the Journal of Laparoendoscopic Surgery and the Journal of American College of Surgeons have published Dr. Sosa´s scientific articles in the fields of General and Laparoscopic Surgery.
