Before I became Dr. True and founded True Plastic Surgery of the Florida Keys, I was an ambitious and eager kid growing up in Ohio. Our family split time between the Midwest and Key Colony Beach, where I quickly fell in love with the laid-back vibe and natural splendor of the Keys. I learned a lot from my father in those days, including how to fly airplanes, and when the time came, I decided I wanted to become a medical practitioner just like him. I received my M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, then went on to complete my first surgery internship at the Medical University of South Carolina Charleston. I remained there for four years longer to complete my first surgery residency, and then completed a second at the Tulane University College of Medicine in New Orleans. Since then, I’ve endeavored to create as much of a positive impact as possible on my field. I joined the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and also taught at the Medical University of South Carolina and Florida State University.
